Archive & Clearances: The Enduring Success of Inside
Note: This project was completed by Jessica Moran under our previous brand, Film & TV Clearances. We are proud to continue supporting award-winning talent as The Media Rights Collective.
Following its critically acclaimed premiere in the Bright Horizons competition at the Melbourne International Film Festival, Inside continues to affirm its status as a landmark in contemporary Australian cinema. The debut feature from Palme d’Or winner Charles Williams has maintained significant momentum throughout the 2025/26 awards season, most recently dominating the Film Critics Circle of Australia (FCCA) Awards with wins for Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Lead Actor.
Produced by Marian Macgowan (The Great) and Kate Glover in association with Screen Australia and the Finnish Impact Fund, Inside is a visceral, meticulously researched study of the Australian penal system. The narrative follows young offender Mel (Vincent Miller) as he navigates the complex paternal dynamics established by seasoned inmates Warren (Guy Pearce) and Mark (Cosmo Jarvis). The film’s commitment to authenticity, supported by years of research within Victorian correctional facilities, has resonated globally, earning nominations at prestigious international fixtures including the Göteborg Film Festival and Tribeca.
At The Media Rights Collective, we were privileged to provide the archive clearances for this project during its post-production phase. Our role focused on the delicate balance of reviewing, negotiating, and advising on licensing terms to ensure the production met the rigorous standards required for international distribution. By securing legal robustness in the archive selection, we aimed to provide the filmmaking team with the creative certainty necessary.
The film’s accolades extend across the industry, including the 2025 AWGIE for Feature Film Original and multiple craft nominations from the Australian Screen Sound Guild and the Australian Production Design Guild.
Inside is distributed in Australia and New Zealand by Bonsai Films and is currently available to stream on Netflix (AU/NZ). International distribution is managed by Quiver Distribution and Goodfellas. In the United Kingdom it is available for digital rental or purchase on Apple TV, Amazon Video, and Sky Store.
We congratulate the entire production team on their continued and well-deserved success.
